Maraschino cherry liqueur doused with fennel, black licorice strap, hedgerow and sandalwood. The small portion of dried fruit imparts density, without overwhelming the sense of compression and freshness. This is an excellent, impactful wine of remarkable levity, despite the obvious weight. A long, sumptuous finish, not dissimilar to a heady Pinot. This is very persuasive and thoroughly impressive. The sort of Valpo, bright, crunchy and translucent, that I love to drink.
A melodious red. The name evokes the melody of the Mattoline (morning larks), that nest only in uncontaminated lands like the ones where this unique wine grows. It contains in itself the great potential of these unique portions of land in Valpolicella, expressing with an extraordinary grace and harmony.
