Canaan Winery: The Poetry of the Promised Land
Established in 2006, Canaan Winery is one of China’s most technologically advanced and critically acclaimed wine estates. Located in Huailai County, Hebei, just 80 kilometers northwest of Beijing, the winery was founded by Richard Li after an exhaustive search for the perfect site. His team analyzed 400 soil samples before selecting Huailai for its unique high-altitude microclimate and the temperature-regulating influence of the nearby Guanting Reservoir.
The Philosophy: East Meets West
Canaan’s flagship brand, Chapter and Verse (Shi Bai Pian), takes its name from a Tang Dynasty poem, reflecting the belief that "wine is bottled poetry." The "Chapter" represents the technical and environmental elements—terroir, climate, and time—while "Verse" signifies the artistic craftsmanship of the winemaking team.
