Devaux’s history goes back to 1846, founded by brothers Jules and Auguste Devaux in the Côte des Bars, Aube. After passing through the hands of several generations, the last family member had no heirs, so Devaux was entrusted to the Union Auboise (known today as the Groupe Vinicole Champagne Devaux). The Côte des Bars is closer to Chablis than Champagne and is known for its Pinot Noir. The vineyards share some of the same Kimmeridgian and Portlandian limestone soils as Chablis giving the wines mouthwatering acidity while having slightly riper fruit from being further South.
