Teeling Whiskey: The Spirit of Dublin Reborn

Founded in 2012 by brothers Jack and Stephen Teeling, this distillery marked a historic milestone as the first new distillery to open in Dublin in over 125 years. While the Teeling family’s whiskey heritage dates back to 1782, the modern operation in The Liberties is the face of the "Irish Whiskey Renaissance," blending urban industrial energy with a relentless spirit of innovation.

The Signature "Teeling Style"

Teeling is famous for pushing the boundaries of traditional Irish whiskey by utilizing unconventional cask finishes and experimental maturation techniques.

• The "Small Batch" Blueprint: Their flagship blend is initially aged in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in Central American Rum casks. This adds a unique tropical fruit sweetness and a spicy finish that has become their hallmark.

• Non-Chill Filtered: All Teeling whiskeys are bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration. This preserves the natural fats and oils of the whiskey, resulting in a richer, creamier mouthfeel.

• Triple Distillation: In keeping with Dublin tradition, they utilize triple distillation to ensure a smooth, clean spirit, but they often incorporate peated malts or unique mash bills to add unexpected layers of complexity.

Innovative Series & 2026 Releases

The distillery is currently defined by several limited-edition series that have garnered global acclaim:

• Wonders of Wood: This series explores the impact of non-traditional oak. The latest Edition 4 (released March 2026) is matured in Virgin Carpathian Oak, offering a profile of rosewater, candied fruit, and powerful spice.

• Rising Reserve: A prestige series of 21-year-old single malts. Series No. 4 (2025) was finished in white wine casks for three years, while the final fifth installment is scheduled for release later in 2026.

• Vintage Reserve: The pinnacle of their collection. Recent bottlings include a 30-Year-Old Single Malt (matured in Bourbon and Sauternes casks), which continues their streak of winning "World's Best Single Malt" titles.

• A Decade of Dublin: In 2025, Teeling celebrated its 10th anniversary of distilling in Dublin, welcoming its one millionth visitor to the Liberties site.

• Global Recognition: At the 2026 Icons of Whisky Ireland awards, Teeling’s Alex Chasko was named Master Distiller of the Year, and the brand won Highly Commended for its innovative marketing campaigns.

• Expansion: Despite a challenging global market in 2025, the distillery has secured the option to acquire an adjoining building in Dublin, signaling a potential €10 million+ expansion to increase production capacity.
