Description
Teeling's Revival series comes to its conclusion with Volume V, which is a 12 year old single malt Irish whiskey initially in ex-Bourbon barrels. Following that maturation, the whiskey was moved over to Cognac and brandy barrels for a finishing period, then bottled at 46% ABV. A release of 15,000 bottles.
Nose
Nice fruitiness, with lots of lime, apricots, greengages and pears. Also almonds and marzipan. Vanilla cake and other pastry notes. There’s a sweet, winey side but also a citrusy brightness – both well balanced. A subtle whiff of grappa underneath.
Mouth
Sweet, creamy and cakey again. Floral honey, typical traces of tropical fruits. Lime, pink grapefruit, pears, mirabelles. A drier side of pastry dough. Citrus zest. Just a (light) alcoholic brandy touch.
Finish
Medium long, with a bit of drying oak, honey and almonds
