James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

A fruity and elegant nose with loads of cherries, cassis, fresh plums, some stones and black pepper. It’s textured and layered. Full body with fine tannins. It has a creamy texture with spices and herbs intermingling at the center. Vitality and energy throughout with a long developing finish. Carignan, syrah and grenache noir. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification.

  • A tribute to Gérard Bertrand's father, who loved this plot of old Carignan vines, some of which are over 100 years old.
  • The name "Forge" comes from the land registry, where all the elements needed for forging are found: wood for the fire and water to cool the metal.
  • Full-bodied, the palate reveals powerful, elegant aromas reminiscent of "jammy" red fruit. This is a great wine with excellent ageing potential (20 years).
