Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independent
La Fleur-Petrus 2017 is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It jogs out with powerful notes of plum pudding, baked blackberries, and smoked meats, plus suggestions of crushed rocks and tapenade. Full-bodied, the palate is bursting with expressive black fruit flavors, supported by ripe, rounded tannins and great tension, finishing long and mineral-laced.
This famous Pomerol property has been run by the Moueix family since the 1950's and produces a wine that is always a classic of the appellation and keenly sought-after. The vineyard is now 18.7 hectares after more parcels have been purchased on the plateau of Pomerol with lesser sites relegated to Lagrange Pomerol. The vineyard is planted with 91% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.
