The Alheit Vineyards 2024 Franschhoek Monument Semillon comes from a historic vineyard planted in 1936 on a south-facing mountain slope in Franschhoek. Chris Alheit describes this wine as “about as South African as you can get.” Dry and richly textured, it shows a firm textural bite, with its tension pushed forward by length, sharpness and a sense of slow-moving momentum. More about drive and structure than overt generosity, it is an arresting and very special Semillon, defined by clarity, energy and place.
